To qualify for an internship with the Country Music Association you must:

Be currently enrolled at an accredited college/university
Make a commitment of at least 15 hours per week (maximum 30 hours per week)

The Finance and Administration Intern will be responsible for assisting the F&A department with a wide range of projects related to the Accounting cycle. The intern will also assist with direct mail and completion of various administrative tasks.  As not only a Finance and Administration Intern, this position may rotate with other departments due to the nature of business need.

JOB DUTIES
• Assist Finance Department with day-to-day operations
• Maintain accounts payable vendor files
• Perform data entry functions

• May Assist with Music Fest ticketing or other duties related to Fest on an as needed basis

Business Affairs

The Business Affairs Intern will be responsible for assisting the Business Affairs department in the research and administrative functions of the department.  This will be accomplished through developing, maintaining and expanding resource databases within the music industry. The intern will also assist in coordinating and implementing multiple projects, assist with direct mail and completion of various administrative tasks.  As not only a Business Affairs Intern, this position may rotate with other departments due to the nature of business need.

JOB DUTIES
• Assists the Director of Business Affairs to complete all paperwork associated with the department (deal memos, contracts, financial paperwork, etc.)
• Inventorying and/or cataloging 
• Assists in music clearances 
• Assists with administrative support to the department including drafting business correspondence. Assists in the maintenance of Business Affairs department files in both electronic and hard copy format.
• Participates in department meetings, shadowing managers, and attends executive level meetings as requested
• Assists in research

Information Technology

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Information Technology Intern will be responsible for assisting the IT Department with a wide range of projects related to day-to-day IT operations, system maintenance and upgrades and some participation in special projects.  This person will also be very involved in the IT preparation, load-in, support and load-out of all IT equipment and services associated with CMA’s Events.

JOB DUTIES
•	Assist  IT Department in day-to-day support and operations
•	Maintain system updates for all workstations

•	Perform system configurations of new staff equipment
•	Perform system configurations of Event loaner equipment

Market Research

The Marketing Research Intern will be responsible for assisting the Market Research department in the development and implementation of market research initiative. This will be accomplished through developing, maintaining and expanding resource databases within the music industry. The intern will also assist in coordinating and implementing multiple projects, assist with direct mail and completion of various administrative tasks. As not only a Market Research Intern, this position may rotate with other departments due to the nature of business need.

JOB DUTIES:
• Research design and data collection
• Consult with a wide range of internal clients to understand business needs
• Work with the Market Research Team to determine appropriate research methodologies to meet business needs
• Assist Market Research Analysts in executing surveys, in-depth interviews and secondary research activities

Community Outreach

The Community Outreach Intern works closely with Community Outreach team to plan and execute all CMA Foundation and CMA EDU event logistics that occur during the internship period.  These events include: CMA Music Festival, CMA Awards, CMA Songwriters Series, and CMA Country Christmas.  Additionally, provides on-going support to the CMA Community Outreach team as needed. This relationship should be characterized by effective communication and willingness to aid and support the growth of the Foundation and CMA EDU, our collegiate program.

JOB DUTIES:
• CMA Foundation
o Data entry of grant applications in database
o Assist maintaining accurate and complete grant applications including collating information needed from the application for Board review 
o Participate in researching potential grant recipients 
o Provide administrative assistance for CMA Foundation Board meetings
o Assist in communications (i.e. quarterly newsletter) 

• CMA EDU
o Assist with CMA EDU officer communications
o Assist with officer training and provide program support when necessary
o Assist with CMA EDU social accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat)
o Provide resources to CMA EDU members when needed
o Assist with EDU expansion and new chapter support efforts moving forward
o Assist with annual CMA EDU Executive Summit in July 
o Assist with EDU inquiries for potential new Chapters
o Coordinate all registration procedures including training officers, website update, promotional kits, etc.
o Develop calendars and posts for EDU social media accounts in collaboration the CMA EDU Coordinator. 

• Other CMA Activities
o Model cross-departmental and cross-entity collaboration on all support needs

• General Office
o Provides support, as needed, for various meetings, events and programs. This may include event logistics, volunteer recruitment and training, in-kind solicitations.
o Assists in completion of donor recognition letters on a weekly basis.
o Performs additional duties, as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EDUCATION:
• Must be available for CMA Music Festival if spring internship (June), CMA EDU Executive Summit if summer internship (July), and CMA Awards if fall internship (November). NO EXCEPTIONS.

Marketing

The Marketing Intern will be responsible for assisting the marketing department in developing and implementing ticket sales campaigns and ABC media campaigns for the CMA Music Festival and CMA Festival TV Special. This will be accomplished through developing, maintaining and expanding marketing channels/methodologies to the music industry. The intern will also assist in coordinating and implementing multiple projects, track and assess the value of marketing efforts, assist with promotion fulfillment and complete various administrative tasks.  As not only a Marketing Intern, this position may rotate with other departments due to the nature of business need.

JOB DUTIES
• Learning online strategies and tactics
• Performing data analysis of Web Analytics for all CMA sites (i.e. CMAworld.com, CMAfest.com, CMAawards.com, etc.)
• Aggregating content for CMA’s email newsletter
• Updating CMA social networking sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.
• Helping with digital creative element tracing, execution and distribution to partners, sponsors, label/artist sites
• Assisting with partnership agreements for online elements
• Participating in meetings, discussions and developing traditional and online initiatives
• Assisting with survey/research efforts (partner recaps, radio markets, social recaps, competitor analysis, etc.)
• Updating Marketing budgets and process department invoices
• Coordinating New Music Friday promotions
• Conducting contests, contacting winners and fulfilling prizing
• Tracking daily TV ratings for later competitor comparisons

Digital Strategy

The Digital Strategy Intern will be responsible for assisting the digital department, in conjunction with the marketing department, with the development and implementation of its marketing and digital online presence. This will be accomplished through developing, maintaining and expanding marketing channels/methodologies to the music industry. The intern will also assist in coordinating and implementing multiple projects, track and assess value of digital initiatives, assist with CMA's pillar events and complete various administrative tasks. This position may rotate with other departments due to the nature of business need.

JOB DUTIES
• Learning online strategies and tactics
• Work on the back end of CMA’s websites and apps to keep them up to date through CMA's Wordpress CMS
• Assist in the roll out and building of new websites as events approach and pass (i.e. Awards, Country Christmas)
• Understand, organize, and report data relating to online presence analytics
• Update playlists accordingly on streaming services such as Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Vevo
• Research upcoming and new digital platforms for the team to discuss and explore

Awards and Industry Relations

Interns will work directly with the Awards & Industry Relations Department on all events that occur during the internship period.  These events may include: CMA Music Festival, CMA Awards and CMA Country Christmas.  Other events that occur throughout the year include CMA Songwriter Series, #1 party set ups, CMA Board Meetings, Triple Play Awards, Hall of Fame Elections, CMA Awards Nominee Press Conference, etc. Specific duties assigned will be focused around the various events that occur during the internship.  As not only an Awards & Industry Relations Intern, this position may rotate with other departments due to the nature of business need.

Creative Services

CMA Creative Services Interns are responsible for assisting the Creative Services department in the implementation of marketing initiatives using a wide range of creative skills.  These positions involve working closely with the following departments: marketing, video/photography production, PR/communications, events and social media.  Candidates should have strong organizational and writing skills, an eye and interest in photography/graphic design, and possess basic Photoshop and/or Premiere skills with a desire to develop those skills through real world experience.  Interns will have the chance to work on high profile events such as CMA Fest, as well as behind-the-scenes industry events that are not open to the general public.  Strong attention to detail, ability to interface with top level talent, and good work ethic are a must.  These positions are ideal for students looking to someday work in the music, video production/editing, photography or graphic design professions.

JOB DUTIES
• Assist on a wide range of creative projects for CMA:
• Managing, ingesting and archiving digital content (photos and videos) captured at live events and promo shoots.
• Graphic design projects including designing flyers, signage, emails, etc.
• Occasionally using a DSLR camera to take photos and capture video.
• Video production and video editing.
• Photo archiving and photo editing assistance, including basic use of Photoshop and Photo Mechanic.
• Fulfilling photo and video archive requests for internal and external requestors.
• Copywriting and proofing.
• Occasional errands out of office (dropping off/picking up hard drives, purchasing production supplies, etc.)
• Administrative duties such as filing, copying, making phone calls.
• Event production and support as assigned.

Communications and Media Relations

The Communications Intern will assist the department in coordinating and implementing multiple projects including: communications, media relations, track and assess value of PR, assist with direct mail and completion of various administrative tasks. As not only a Communications Intern, this position may rotate with other departments due to the nature of business need.

JOB DUTIES
• Administrative duties such as filing, copying, making phone calls, etc.
• Completing mass mailings to the media 
• Research facts as needed for press releases and additional materials
• Monitor media coverage of CMA events using Meltwater and TVEyes software
• Monitor media coverage of the Country Music industry for potential social media use
• Maintain magazine database tracking mainstream coverage of Country Music artists
• Proofread CMA Close Up Magazine
• Continually update online press release archives
• Regularly communicate with CMA EDU Vice Presidents of Communication and work with CMA Communications Manager to maximize media opportunities
• Assist in duties associated with CMA Music Festival as needed, including gathering and packing supplies, creating media and publicist kits, credential pickup, and on-site media escorting.
• Assist with annual press conference announce the new class of Country Music Hall of Fame inductees
• Onsite assistance for ancillary media events, including but not limited to CMA Songwriters Series and CMA Foundation
• Assist the Communications Department with tasks assigned.

Strategic Partnerships

The Strategic Partnerships Intern will learn about the value exchange between the parties involved in a strategic brand partnership and sponsorship, value propositions, and account management. Interns will be responsible for assisting the Strategic Partnerships department in the development and management of brand partner and sponsor relationships at CMA Fest, event logistics and activation management. The Strategic Partnerships Intern will also assist in the development of CMA events, communications, and promotional materials that support CMA’s effort to not only “sell” CMA properties but also to educate brands and brand agencies about the opportunities and benefits of working with the Country Music format.

JOB DUTIES
• Assist in tracking current partner statuses, implementing partnership deliverables, and planning for future partner related activations for CMA properties - particularly as it pertains to CMA Fest 
• Responsible for filing partner contracts and constructing one sheets for each agreement
• May be responsible for on-site program issues and decision making at CMA Fest and other CMA Events
• Assist with developing pitch decks & proposals for prospective partners
• Aid with gathering materials for the CMA Fest sponsor recaps
• Maintain scheduling and collaboration with other CMA departments as needed
• Assist with pre-event coordination; advancing information, requesting information, pre-event logistics, and set-up for CMA Fest and other CMA Events
• Assist with leads for possible partnership opportunities
• General department administrative functions as necessary

Live Events

Interns will work directly with the Live Events Department on all events that occur during the internship period. The main events include: CMA Music Festival. Other events that occur throughout the year include; CMA Songwriter Series, CMA Board Meetings, Triple Play Awards, Hall of Fame Nominee Announcements, etc. Specific duties assigned will be focused around the various events that occur during the internship.  This position may rotate with other departments due to the nature of business need.

JOB DUTIES
• Report directly to Sr. Manager of Live Events but will work directly with all other positions within the department and potentially key contract labor positions.  
• Assist with various event logistics in advance and on-site related to all areas of the CMA Music Festival (i.e. parking, credentials, signage, etc.).
• Maintain up-to-date event documents for distribution related to the specified events 
• Procure and organize supplies for events 
• Remain updated on industry trends through research
• Support and perform administrative duties
• Help create program recap and presentations

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Specific Major may vary, however, candidate should have some sort of event driven experience apart from any communication, PR or marketing duties.   
• Must be Junior or Senior in College
• Familiarity with basic and strong communications terminology and skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple high priority projects simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Music industry familiarity preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Office

• During events, must be able to stand for long hours – especially during CMA Music Festival.  Duties will take intern to a variety of locations and in various weather elements.

International Relations

The International Intern will learn about developing Country Music in global markets through a cross section of live events, marketing, partnerships, and relationship building. The intern will assist the International department in building the Introducing Nashville touring brand, planning host duties for international stakeholders, and supporting ongoing database and administrative tasks.

JOB DUTIES
•	Assisting logistics and support for the Introducing Nashville tour 
•	Updating Introducing Nashville assets including IntroducingNashville.com and Introducing Nashville social media accounts
•	Assist with data analysis for IntroducingNashville.com and Introducing Nashville social media accounts
•	Assisting with organizing promotional tools for CMA’s international TV airings 
•	Aggregating content for and creating CMA’s UK Update newsletters
•	Assist hosting international stakeholders and organizing the International Reception at the CMA Awards
•	Participating in meetings, discussions and developing global initiatives
•	Monitoring international tour activity for research and growth
•	Updating International budgets and process department invoices
•	Performing administrative duties such as filing, copying, making phone calls, mailings, etc.
•	Special projects as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
•	Must be Junior or Senior in College (College credit not required)  
•	Familiarity with social media and digital marketing 
•	Ability to juggle multiple high priority projects simultaneously 
•	Music industry familiarity preferred 
•	Familiarity with international music and entertainment markets and live events preferred
•	Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Photoshop, Social media platforms, etc. preferred 
•	Job Type: Part-time; Position will not exceed 18 hours per week.
